Severe thunderstorm watch on for EK
A severe thunderstorm watch is underway for much of the East Kootenay, Environment Canada announced this morning (August 20).
The severe thunderstorm watch for is on for the Cranbrook and Elk Valley portions of the East Kootenay, as well as for the West Kootenay.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing large hail and heavy rain,” Environment Canada (EC) stated in a news release.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury; be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm strikes. There isn’t a place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm,” EC outlined.
